Welcome to my blog!

My love of photography and story-telling began as early as my first photography class in the 8th Grade (Thanks Mr. Hubbard!). I graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 2005 with a BA in Photojournalism and have since been working as a photographer in the beautiful city of Asheville, NC. I specialize in photojournalistic wedding coverage and have been an award-winning member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA) since 2008.

True to my journalism training, I like to capture the energy and emotions during a wedding day. I am drawn to classic images that tell a story and those that show the love between two people whether it's a father and his daughter, life-long friends, or two people in love. I am inspired by weddings because I see these love-filled moments everywhere I turn my head.

Kelly and Cory’s Wedding

I had the pleasure of being a part of Kelly Sivertson and Cory Parson’s wedding this past Saturday, May 9. The wedding took place at Centenary United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem, NC with the reception following at Reynolda Hall’s Magnolia room on the Wake Forest University Campus. Once again, we had another rainy Saturday, but luckily we were still able to get outside and do some portraits (and look at how green that grass was on the lawn after the rain!). Pam from Snyder Photo was there doing videography for the event. On a little side note, I did hear recently that it’s scientifically more likely to rain on a Saturday due to the pollution that is put in the air by traffic during the week! Pretty interesting, huh? Back to the wedding!! This wedding party (most of whom have PhD and Masters Degrees) really knew how to get down and dirty on the dance floor! Including a very funny version of the Hokie Pokie dedicated to the Virginia Tech Hokies of the crowd (Kelly is an alum). Cory, however, is a diehard Tarheel! He proposed to Kelly at the Old Well on campus in July (Kelly currently works on UNC campus). And yes, the couple was also on Franklin Street in March for the NCAA championship game!
