Anna and Ryan at Deerfields, Asheville

Better late than never! I’m catching up on the blog after an amazing 2017 season. I am starting with this inspiring wedding day because in a lot of ways it represents why it is that I love shooting weddings so much. The setting was absolutely incredible at Deerfields campground just outside of Asheville. Guests camped all weekend on site or stayed in the cabins (also onsite), swam and played in the lake and enjoyed the beautiful mountain setting.

Anna and Ryan tied the knot on July 8, 2017. The day started as a rainy one, not just a sprinkle, but pouring down rain. Guests huddled under the main cabin to escape the rain before the ceremony. Rain on a wedding day can get a lot of people down, not these guys! They stayed positive and made the decision to go on with the day as planned as the rain lightened up. Everyone grabbed their umbrellas and walked up the hill to a beautiful ceremony site in the woods and followed the Firecracker Jazz Band and danced all the way down to the reception. By the time Anna and Ryan reached the reception they were married and the rain was finished, leaving the mountains draped with a beautiful fog: The perfect setting for family photos!

Firecracker Jazz Band and DJ Kipper entertained guests into the night and they danced under the moonlight! It was a truly romantic and beautiful day! Events by Kiersa Holly did an amazing job planning and organizing this amazing event and Black Eyed Susan catering delivered some of the best wedding food I’ve ever eaten!! Here are some highlights from this inspiring wedding day:

Kelly and Daniel at Camp Wayfarer in Flat Rock, NC

SO excited to share this sweet wedding day today! From the time I first spoke with Kelly on the phone about hers and Daniel’s wedding, I was so excited to be a part of the telling of their story! These two met at summer camp (Camp Wayfarer) and brought all their friends and family back to that same camp to tie the knot on May 13.

What I enjoyed most about documenting Kelly and Daniel’s wedding day is watching the two of them interact with each other all day. In my 11 years of being a wedding photographer, I’m not sure I’ve seen a couple more genuinely excited to get married and so obviously in love with each other! Truly! There were times on the dance floor my heart melted watching them smile at each other… I would even look back at Kelly’s mother and find her reacting the same way and give her that “oh my god they are so cute” smile! I truly hope I captured this in these photos!

Thanks to Celine and Co Catering, SugarCloud Bakery, Smash Events (Dominique), Cotton Rouge, Steel Toe Stiletto, my second photographer Regina Holder, and all those who helped to make this such a successful wedding day!

Here’s my visual story of this spectacular camp wedding:

sweet moment when Kelly’s brother delivered her card from Daniel and saw her in her dress for the first time (above)

Kelly and Daniel were SO CUTE in this moment right after the ceremony!!!

Steel Toe Stiletto Band was EPIC!!

Sending lots of love to this sweet couple! Thanks for letting me document your special day!

Kenley and Dave’s South Slope Vow Renewal

What a fun way to celebrate a ten-year anniversary! Kenley and Dave traveled from Florida to Asheville’s South Slope, the new downtown hub for “beer city”, to renew their wedding vows. “Renewing the lease,” Dave called it! Dave is a master brewer at Veterans United Craft Brewery  and Kenley admits that she and Dave are so different in so many ways but one big thing they share in common is their love for good beer! We started at Twin Leaf Brewery, where they graciously allowed Dave and Kenley to share some new vows while they brewed beer! Then we walked around the South Slope, stopping at Catawba, Green Man, Tasty Beverage Co., and Funkatorium! After I left, these two continued their celebration at Sierra Nevada Brewery!

Wishing these two many many more years of “cheers-ing” and drinking good beer together!

Kenley MADE this gorgeous hops bouquet!

Megan and Steve in Marshall, NC

Better late than never, right?! Continuing to catch up on blog posts from an amazing fall wedding season. Megan and Steve were married on October 22 at a private residence in Marshall, NC with absolutely STUNNING views! It was unseasonably cold and the wind blew strong on the top of the mountain, but guests enjoying the amazing food, music and company. When I left for the evening, it seemed to only be getting better as the band joined guests by the fire for fireside music and celebration. Enjoy these highlights from a beautiful wedding day!

Tien and Nathan at On Broadway

Tien and Nathan tied the knot October 15, 2016 at On Broadway in downtown Asheville. I had so much fun celebrating with this group! The dance floor was happening all night with both the young and older guests. Here are a few of my favorites:
